Barber impregnates 12-year-old girl
Mpraeso (E/R), Sept. 11, GNA - Tony Kwabena Sefa, a 29 year-old barber, was on Friday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Mpraeso Circuit Court for defiling and impregnating a 12-year-old girl at Asakraka.
Police Chief Inspector Andrews Yerenkyi, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Justice Alex Owusu-Ofori, that at about 2000 hours in June, the victim was asked to send food to her uncle at the outskirt of the town.
He said while she was returning from the errand, Sefa sent her to purchase packets of blade from a nearby shop for him.
The prosecutor said when the victim sent the blades to the convict in his shop, he locked the door, push her on a sofa and had sex with her and warned her not to reveal the ordeal to anyone or else she would die.
The prosecutor said the victim failed to report the incident to her parents until July 31, when they detected she was pregnant and narrated her ordeal to them when she was questioned.
He said a report was made to the Bepong police who arrested Sefa, while a medical report confirmed that she was pregnant.
