Man attempts to kill brother over GH¢70 debt
Aflao, Sept 11, GNA - Kwaku Agbeleseshi, 32, a porter, is being held by the Aflao police for attempting to kill his elder brother, over an amount of GH¢70, the brother allegedly owes him.
A locally made double-barrel shotgun loaded with one round of ammunition, a cutlass and hacksaw were retrieved from him.
Mr Ahmed Issah Yakubu, Aflao District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the suspect is from Aflao but based in Tema New Town, visited home for a funeral sometime this year.
He said during the funeral, the suspect dipped his hand into a bowl containing the funeral donation with the intention of collecting an amount of GH¢200 he claimed to have invested in the funeral but was obstructed by Kwashi Agbeleseshi, his elder brother and others.
Mr Yakubu said Kwaku Agbeleseshi became offended and demanded that the brother (Kwashi) paid him back the GH¢70 he owed him or else "he would kill him".
He said the suspect went back to Tema, where he works as a porter at the Fishing Habour but returned to Aflao and at about 0300 hours on Wednesday scaled the wall into his brother's house with the intention to kill him but could not find him.
Mr Yakubu said in frustration, the suspect damaged a motorbike belonging to his brother, which was parked in the house and on hearing people approaching, took to his heels but was chased and arrested.
The District Police Commander said the suspect would be put before court for causing unlawful damage, illegal possession of fire arms and threat of harm.
